I've been wanting to read this book for a long time and I'm glad I finally did. Cat Sebastian is as great as everyone says, and this is a perfect queer romance to read.

My only critique is that certain parts near the end didn't make sense to me, though maybe that's to get everyone to read the sequel? Which I'm unsure if I want to yet or not. Either way, I still highly recommend this book!

When Kit said “There’s no such thing as a good landlord” I felt that.

I picked this up after finishing another historical romance series and was pleasantly surprised. I've never read anything by Cat Sebastian, but I enjoyed the voice and the prose. I listened to it on audio, and the descriptions were still vivid enough to picture the characters and setting. There's an actual plot aside from the romance, which is terrific. Although I am usually a big fan of dual-POVs, I agree with other reviewers that this book would've been even better with one. It was a unique story, and I loved all the anti-capitalist undertones. I can't wait to read the sequel!

I was going to save my ARC until closer to publication, but I really needed a comfort book the other day as an escape from real life, and this book did not disappoint. I have not read many of Cat Sebastian’s work but have enjoyed the other books that I have read. I enjoyed the amount of plot even if some of it was predictable. The ending seemed a bit abrupt, but I am in support for a second in the series and also more Collins. I enjoyed the description of the time period and how Kit dealt with his leg. The romance was sweet, and the plotting fun. The usual amount of making out at random moments as in most historical romances, but the characters were at least somewhat aware that they really should be doing something else. All in all, it was exactly what I needed as an escape for a few hours.

(I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
