Very charming gay historical romance! Lots of great banter, fun characters (including side characters), and a strong plot driving it all forward that wrapped up satisfyingly!
A super fun, deeply romantic book about being gay, doing crimes and sticking it to the aristocracy. Honestly, no notes. Loved every page!
3.5⭐
Thank you so, so much to Avon and Netgalley for providing an e-arc copy. All thoughts and opinions are still my own.
No writes queer historical fiction like Cat Sebastian. I always fall completely in love with her characters and romances, and this was no exception.
The grumpy/sunshine mixed with different classes was such a fantastic mix of tropes that left me swooning over this romance. I really loved the chemistry between these two characters and how they grew to respect and love each other.
One thing I always love about this author's books is the representation she adds into an otherwise underrepresented genre. Not only is there queer rep in here, but Kit is disabled and dealing with chronic pain. As someone with chronic illness, this is always something I'm looking for in books I thought the rep was absolutely fantastic.
The heist portion itself wasn't my favorite. I thought the concept was fun but there was a lot of slow build up with a somewhat lackluster culmination.
Overall this is a must read for historical romance lovers! It's fun, swoony, and full of amazing representation. I can't wait to binge Cat Sebastian's next release!

DNF @ 36%. Could’ve probably finished it, but there were too many other good audiobooks available in the midst of my listen and I just wasn’t compelled to finish this. Maybe I’ll come back to this one? Idk.

A solid “read beside the pool” kind of story. Good smut, and almost a queer equivalent to reading a Bridgerton novel.
Four stars for the book, an additional star for the audio performance by Joel Leslie. He did such a great job with the different accents and timbres. And the story is a lovely slow burn with plenty of swoon, but despite the plot being all about highwaymen and scandal and plotting crimes, the love itself felt very grounded and real. The two men slowly come to trust and care about each other, and you can see the relationship is based on more than just attraction. They communicate! And they don't give up on each other even when one or the other is being a dumbass. It just made me happy.
