This book was adorable, funny, and also managed to have a great plot. You'll fall in love with several of the characters while shaking your head and giggling at them. I loved this story!

I enjoyed this book both for the romance and the plot. I liked that there was a little mystery to solve, as well as the way the characters reacted differently based on their histories.

I’m excited to read the sequel.

I’ve started going into 80% of romance expecting bland characters because it keeps happening, so I was super pleasantly surprised by this. Both the main characters are so so well-written and have great character arcs. The author does a good job tackling chronic pain with Kit, and I adore Percy. Every time you think you know him and what he’ll say next, he surprises you again! I love him getting his own sense of accomplishment through fencing, I love his ridiculousness and wit and sense of fashion, I love when he shows up drunk to tell Kit that he doesn’t want to hit women. very endearing character.

And the slow burn is impeccable. The grumpy/sunshine energy, the homoerotic ‘teaching you how to fight’, the banter and wound tending ... Cat Sebastian KNOWS how to do a good romance. And how to address their differences – the discussion of class and landlords was especially poignant and I appreciated that it’s such a large facet of the book.

The only thing I wasn’t completely sold on was the plot – there are definitely some good twists and mysteries, but it just didn’t measure up to the rest of the book and is dull at times (esp in the first 40%, making it hard to get into the book at first). But hey, I'm not reading this for the plot - I'm reading it for the sweet romance that'll melt your heart, and it absolutely succeeded on that count.
