this was soooo cute!! i really liked the discussion of
class, lords etc. it was very refreshing to see it discussed in the one is rich one is a commonor trophe, and that percy decided to give it up on his own accord. very good stuff

one of my issues was the timing of their relationship, it
felt longer than it was? apparently it had been a month? but it seemed longer and should have been, we don't no insta love in this house

also marian???
what the hell was going on there. i know book 2 is about her but i think we needed something in this book. also rob? lol i gasped when he came back and i just figured out that his mum/scarlett was the current duchess of clare. i would have liked to know more about that. also, random at marian just leaving her kid?? and the book? kind of underwhelming that it was just blackmail material. righto

besides my above issues and questions, i had a lot of fun. very easy and quick to read.

This is the type of book I didn’t know I was looking for this until I had found it. It was funny, a bit mysterious, and incredibly sweet. Percy is my favorite bc of course he is.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! It was funny and poignant and had lots of twists and turns. Opposites attract with campy, chaotic Percy and grumpy Kit. I listened to the audio book and the narration by Joel Leslie was great with so many laugh out loud moments.

I came for the idea of a queer historical romance and I stayed for the heist rooted in a family drama. I found the whole family/marriage drama conundrum to be a little confusing in the beginning, but as the pieces started to fall into place, it was totally entertaining. On top of the plot being entertaining, I thought the romance between Kit and Percy was endearing and nice. I was also glad the conflict that challenges their relationship in the book was not based on the fact that they are in a queer relationship in the 1700s.
Something that I felt took away from the book, however, was how I felt the first 30-40% of the book really just dragged on. I read about them ogling each other for so long, while Kit took his sweet time trying to decide what to do. This was frustrating and it made me not want to pick up the book sometimes. However, I am glad I got through it because the second half of the book was amazing.
At times, it didn't feel like a historical romance (with the dialogue specifically), which I still go back and forth on whether I liked that. I will say this is a very accessible book for beginners of historical romance, as there are not too many terms and titles that need to be known.
Overall, this was a very fun read.
