At first I wanted to give this at least a two star rating because the book DOES have interesting concept and I think I keep holding onto the fact I really loved book one. Somehow I knew I wouldn't like this. I put off reading this for THREE years. It's sat on my shelf and I was never super interested in finding out more, but at the same time I wanted to know more on the year stuff. Unfortunately this book felt like it was much longer than it should be. I understand why, it's legitimately a completely different world (in fact there's two) than the WHOLE first book. Perhaps that's why I didn't love it? There was so much time spent in this book learning everything from scratch (because no one explained shit the book before).
There was so many characters and things happening, but it ended up feeling super slow paced and while I sort of liked the ending, I didn't like the vast majority of this book. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE it, it just really wasn't for me. And I was super upset about the Andre/Brooks crap and the ending was weird and everyone getting powers was weird. And that's mainly how I felt about the book. It was ALL weird. It wasn't like the first book, the new stuff was just all weird.

This was a slow starting book. And the ending wasn't much of a page turner either. I basically ended this book with scratching my read and saying, "Really?" I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. I guess I loved the first book based on that rating, but I honestly didn't remember much except she wasn't allowed to cry and did when I got around to reading this one. With that being said, it was just okay.
Lauren Kate has a way of making things really unexpected. This book was really slow for me. Took me way too long to read. Once I got about halfway through the book, things sped up. It was pretty good after that but not my favorite. Eureka just wasn't my favorite person.
1 Tear shed for the time I spent waiting for a Waterfall
This book was just a painful read. This is the second book in a duology. The pacing of this book was off to me. I stuck it out, and while it did get better at times, on the whole, it was, in my opinion, bad. The concept was really interesting and unique. I like that aspect of it. I also enjoyed the ending of the book. It was different, and fit the story. I think the writing style was just not for me.
Oh well, you win some you loose some.
But it's also nice to know, I definately do not want to own or read this one again.
Side note: I read this book back January 7th & 8th and COMPLETELY forgot about reading it till I was trying to fill out my reading calendar of all the books I read this year and knew that I had been reading a book on those days, because that was the day/night of a cascade of major life event(s) for our family.

I got to the 11th chapter and didn’t find a reason to keep on going. I did enjoyed the first book but this one is just not catchy... something somewhere went wrong.
So bad. Couldn't even finish it. Had to force myself through what I did read, which is too bad because I've liked this author in the past.
