This book was like observing ships passing in fog. You know that there is danger in the environment. You know that if they collide, it shouldn't be a surprise. And sometimes the glimpses of sky you see are beautiful for their scarcity, so that you notice.

as far as the 2013-2015 trend of ya romance centered around mental health and mental illness, i think atbp managed to execute it in a way that wasn't hand-wavey-love-cures-all like a lot of others did. it's tragic, it's not a very happy ending and it's not the book to read if you're going through your own thing but reading it from the other side of everything is incredibly cathartic.
