The writing style isn’t for me. Watching the tv show beforehand also made the plot less exciting

I'm so glad I decided to give these books a try. Definitely have more context for the show now

This is the prequel to the Witcher series and introduces Geralt ang a few stories of him fighting monsters, meeting Dandelion (or Jaskier) and later Yennifer, the sorcerer.
The tales were broken up into parts which lead to a quick and easy read, full of adventure and dry wit. I loved the Slavic folklore and the additions of some classic fairytales with a dark twist.
Overall it set up the series really well.

A fun read with different adventures. I'm not that into fantasy, so I didn't know what all the different creatues/monsters were.
I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy books, but aren't into very long stories with an overarching storyline.

After playing the games and watching the show reading the book was even more fun. Because you mostly know what's happening but now you only see it from Geralrts perspective. Even though the book is compiled of many smaller stories (which I normally don't like) I've found myself enjoying every single one of them - but maybe because if you watch the show it takes little time to know which story is to come ... But anyhow it was a really fun read

It's just too hard to understand for me sadly, loved the TV series
This was not for me. I have watched the show, so I thought I could possibly like this, but I just found it very disjointed. Granted it is a collection of short stories, but it was hard to find the through line between them. Oh well, I’ll just stick to the show.
