I love Odd Thomas.

I think I've started every one of these reviews that way. But I really do. I love Odd Thomas. He is such... such an intelligent, good, brave, amazing individual. Dean Koontz, why have you done this to me?! I need him to be real now! Or I need to find his real-life equivalent, and then somehow convince them that I can be their Stormy!

Okay, that tiny rant is over. This book was originally three mini-stories, but was then combined into one book that you could buy as a novella that serves as a bridge between what happens from book 4 to book 5. (I can't speak on whether reading this book is strictly 'necessary' in order for you to enjoy Odd Apocalypse, since I haven't gotten there yet. But I do think that, regardless of whether it's necessary, it's a great read in the Odd Thomas Universe and you should definitely just pick it up anyway.)

I just also want to say that... the Odd Thomas Universe seems to be taking some rather dark turns. That's not to to say that I thought the first three books or even the fourth book were lighthearted at all. There has always been danger surrounding poor Odd, and he's been through much more than any young man should have to be. But I do think that, with each new story we dive into, we dive deeper into darker or creepier and more dangerous waters than we experienced before. (I am not saying this as a bad thing. I still love this book just as much as I've loved the others in the series. I just felt the need to share that.)

I can't wait to dive into the next one. I should probably slow down, because before you know it, it'll be over. But I love these books! It's so hard to slow down. AH!

My traditional Christmas read! :D Okay, those of you who don't know me very well might think it's strange that a book series about a guy who sees dead people is my annual Christmas read, and to you I say "But what about a Christmas Carol?" and leave you to brood. To those of you who do know me... well, you know how I am ;P

This book was interesting as all the Odd Thomas books are interesting. As usual, I love Odd's self-deprecating humor and his kindness, and the monster was particular scary. I also loved that we got a chance to get away from the (in my opinion) overly large catastrophe of the last book, and focus on the impact of the previous events on Odd. He's growing (though he may not always be happy about it) and changing, and I love that about him. I'm excited to see where he goes, and hope that the stories take on a more personal note, rather than the overblown drama of Book 3.

The only criticism I really have is the narrator's voice acting for Anna Maria. It's so soft spoken that I almost couldn't understand what she was saying without turning the volume up full blast, only to be blown away a moment later by Odd's voice. It was quite distracting. I hope it's corrected in the next book.

This book isn't half bad. The villain is both original and supernatural in nature, and ultimately "odd" in just the right way, which is really what this series is all about, even if it was an in between book to get us to Odd Apocalypse.

I cant tell if I am honestly enjoying the writing style more or if I have simply gotten used to it.

The horror I was looking for in the first novel has been found. Although brief and small, avoided rather than spoken of it was gruesomely fabulous. Government experiments gone wrong; genetic alteration, advanced AI and Aliens. This novel would make the X Files proud

3.5 stars. What can i say ~ Odd Thomas is one of my favourite series. This is #4.5 in the series and was first published only digitally. This definitely moves more into the realm of sci-fi and of course, it has Odd, being his humble, hero, kick-ass, funny self.

Maybe more of a review to come...

This was such an interesting concept but it was so bogged down with needless descriptions of everything the characters came across, it became a chore to read by the end. I loved Jolie though I'd hope to see more of her.
