This is a lighthearted book with a bit of heartbreaking in the family dynamic front, hut it has a fair ending and I enjoyed reading it. It's written mainly in the voice of an old lady and a younger man, i liked the way both narrators experiences are described and how the experience of the old lady gives her insight on her granddaughters relationship, but in a caring non-judgemental way. It goes a bit in your face with religion, but not in an obnoxious way so I found it ok.

I'm having a hard time deciding on a ranking, so I'm going with 2.5⭐️.
The story drew me in at the beginning. Then, the characters that drew me in turned problematic. There also seems to be a few storyline errors- things said at one part of the book and then later conflicting info.
It had potential.
Ended the book disappointed.

A fast, easy read. Over all, not a trope I enjoy really, but glad there were some changes to the original (like cooper getting treatment and then not dating right away when he got back. . I’m really not sure how I feel about crickets ending. I’m not a parent but I do know a lot about trauma so I would have liked to see something different for her. Idk maybe she was happy eventually. But she was happy in Ellerie ). But the setting, the various townspeople and their stories were all fun to build the world.
