The pacing of this book was great. I really flew through it. That said the story wasn't great and I didn't feel that there was even a stitch of reality buries within it. I think a 2.5 star would be the more accurate grade. The characters are getting thinner and thinner, and the amount I care about them is next to nil. I find that the author might want to either take a break or move on. This happens with almost all series, where the same stuff, didn't title occurs. Here, I think, the problem might be churning a book out each year hasn't given much time for growth and development of the characters.

Hunting down the lost, sacred Vault of Shiva is no easy task, but one that Nina and Eddie are more than up for.

Once again, ego maniacal multi billionaires (you think the world would be running out of these by now the way Nina and Eddie go through them...) are hunting down the vault for themselves to start their very own Armageddon, and do everything they can to stop our dynamic duo.

Fortunately this time the pattern is broken and no one betrays them, but they do still lose someone in their travels.

I'm interested to see when the shadow organization hinted at a few books back is going to show up. I hope it's in the next installment, but that might take a completely different turn since they found an interesting purple Egyptian statue which just happens to be a match to the one in Nina's office.....

1) Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

2) Genre: Thriller

3) Synopsis: Masterpieces are disappearing around the world. When the Codex disappears in front of Nina & Eddie, they take it personal. Of course, the chase involves lots of action and the risk of death.

4) Feelings: Normally I love these books but for some reason this one didn't grab me. Maybe I wasn't in the mood or it could be I felt this Codex storyline was a little farfetched.

5) Final recommendation: Like I said, I normally love this series. Maybe this is one of those it is me not you cases.

Another exciting entry in the Nina and Eddie saga. I don't think those two could stay out of trouble if they tried. I can't wait for the next one!!

At one level, this book is really not much different to the others in the series. But I don't care about that because it's chock full of high-octane explosive set pieces, chases and scenes. There is a story in here somewhere, but it's about as trivial as the lore you're meant to read while queuing for a roller coaster. I'm just here for the ride, and it did not disappoint. Love the main characters and their relationship.

Another crazy Chase & Wilde. Not one of my favorite stories, but still enjoyable.

Good continuation book for a decent mystery-adventure series. While not on par with Cussler or James Patterson, McDermott is an enjoyable author to read. The characters are while defined and developed if a bit over the top, but isn't everybody's adventure characters now a days. I have read the entire series and after several books the pattern unfortunately becomes redundant but if you can push through and just read the books for what they are you will enjoy this and the other books in the series.

Plenty of action, subterfuge, plot twists and clever last-minute escapes. Sort of a modern Indiana Jones, complete with hidden caves of treasures (booby trapped, of course.)
But for some reason I couldn't really get into the story, could't feel the action in my gut. Not sure why.
