I hope you're ready to read about Maddie's constant need to "point [her] car towards X" because that phrase is in here like twenty times !

I always enjoy reading the mysteries Maddie manages to get herself mixed up in and her friends that go along with her. Always enjoy Maddie and Ramirez time. This one goes into the baseball world and the secrets the ball players and wives have....and who done it and solved in only the style Maddie (a shoe designer) can do. This one starts with a mystery involving an ball players girl friend, spray tan booth, and "faux" dad's salon.

love this series...and I actually sort of figured out the killer was! It is rare but something just stuck out about this person that seemed kind of odd....but I didn't figure it out until near the end when other things were revealed.
can't wait for the next book!

No where near enough Felix. Mild Dana and Maddie adventures but Marco induced laughter for the win. Good twists and turns.

i reread this series because some of the newer ones came on sale recently for 99 cent and i bought them.
i like this as a candy book meaning it's a fun quick read. the murder mysteries are not that easy to solve with lots of suspects. the amateur detective and crew -Maddie, Dana, & Marco are fabulous and funny. the scary tough guy cop is dangerous and sexy. plus her mom and her mom's best friend are funny as well as insightful (they give ya clues if you look for them.)
what i don't like is how Maddie keeps putting herself in danger by going to check out clues or people who she suspects are KILLERS by herself. she gets hit on the head A LOT. when you reread almost an entire series you can see she does this in each book. like OK in the first 3 books i get the stupidity but in books 7-9 she does this as well. she does this even AFTER sexy cop Ramirez tells her not to in EVERY single book. he warns her to not investigate. then when he gives up on that he says do not go anywhere alone. but does she listen??? nope and how many times can one get concussions or knocked on the head almost to point of a conclusion without getting some serious damage. it affects athletes; they have made movies about it.
so besides that huge annoyance i enjoy the book series. definitely a read alike for [a:Janet Evanovich|2384|Janet Evanovich|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/authors/1385051483p2/2384.jpg]'s Stephanie Plumb series, [a:Sarah Strohmeyer|26791|Sarah Strohmeyer|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/authors/1333203308p2/26791.jpg]'s Bubble series, [a:Lisa Lutz|74189|Lisa Lutz|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/authors/1428965810p2/74189.jpg]'s Spellman series, and [a:Leslie Langtry|562364|Leslie Langtry|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/authors/1375816142p2/562364.jpg]'s Greatest Hits series. BTW i got these readalikes from Novelist and Amazon recommendations like a long time ago. they were absolutely correct about them being readalikes. i enjoyed all of these series.

The good
Dana & Maddie together. I love how Maddie calls on Dana for back up and Dana's enthusiasm to help.
That Ramirez asked for Maddie's help because if she had of investigated off her own bat it would have really bugged me.
The less good
Marco. I think he is supposed to be comic relief but Maddie is amusing enough in her own right. Marco is way too over the top and obnoxious. I guess he would be bearable if Maddie wasn't such a doormat about the while birthday thing.
Maddie's investigation technique resembling random flailing around. I prefer a little more thought/intelligence in my sleuths.
