The Summer I Turned Pretty Vibes? Check! Long lost childhood loves? Check!

The things I couldn’t get past though was the fact she NEVER googled or Facebook stalked Wyatt. Like who doesn’t google their ex-boyfriends?? And even if she didn’t google him, he’s famous, so she was bound to read about him or hear about it him on the news, social media, her family, etc. That really bothered me.

Also, her fiancé was an ass and they had zero chemistry. Their relationship was a bit too unbelievable.

Cute, quick summer read. Childhood lovers who reconnect later in life. The setting was idyllic and I loved picturing the water scenes. I enjoyed reading this one and especially the quick chapters but nothing particularly stuck out to me. I think I enjoyed Annabel Monaghan's first book more.

I wanted to rate this book lower but I’m giving it 3 stars because it did keep me engaged and made me feel a lot of things. But the things I felt were frustration and anger. And honestly I was frustrated with almost every single character in this book. Sam and Wyatt ended up in a similar situation as their parents did when they were younger and yet it was fine for them (I guess emotional cheating is not the same as physical cheating).

I found the behavior of Sam’s parents to be appalling. I hated the way they tried to solve Sam’s heartbreak, which they caused. I hated the relationship between Jack and Sam because it was so obvious they weren’t a good match and Sam was with him because that was what her idea of love and relationships told her to do. And I really hated all of the time adult Sam and Wyatt spent together while Sam was engaged to Jack because it was the same kind of betrayal their parents engaged in and made Wyatt so angry as a young adult. Fine for him but not fine for his mom. Honestly, reflecting on this book more, the only thing I did enjoy was the development of their friendship and romantic relationship as kids. So yeah…if I’m being honest, this is a 2.5⭐️ book for me.

I absolutely loved this book! Such a fluffy romance and I loved Sam’s dry sense of humor. The author’s description of the way it can feel to transform from childhood to adolescence and then to adulthood and all of the emotions encompassing those transitions really resonated with me too.
