This was a really good, quick summer read. It wasn’t too fluffy, but also not too deep. I liked the story and the way it was written, going from the past to the present. The thing that stuck with me is how one event/choice can change the direction of so many people’s lives. And also, just because you are a teenager in love for the first time, it doesn’t mean that that love should be discounted because of your age or experience.
I have no words for this one. I hate that I was in a reading slump so it took me a while to get through this one, because it was honestly such a fun and easy read that I never wanted to put down (picking it up was a different story). I genuinely don't think I've ever believed in and FELT the love between two people jump off the page the way I did with this book. I can't wait to read Annabel Monaghan's other books!!! new favorite author alert fr

Kicking myself for not reading this book sooner.
I’ve enjoyed every Annabel Monaghan book I’ve read. I just adore her writing and her books always have the right balance of fun and seriousness. This was childhood friends/second chance and I ate it up. We get some really sweet flashback chapters and get to watch Sam and Wyatt’s relationship develop as they were teenagers and honestly it just gave me all the nostalgic feels of summer in your teens with your friends and young love. And then seeing Sam and Wyatt now and watching how they both had handled heartbreak and grief and reconciling the past with this present made my heart ache but it was also such a sweet journey. I love how Annabel brings light humor into more serious moments. There is a scene where Sam’s dad is driving Sam and Wyatt back home and they are having a very serious conversation about what happened between them and the dad is just randomly throwing in one-liners and I was rolling so hard. This book gave me some Every Summer After vibes, so if you’re missing Barry’s Bay then you should pick up this one!
