Probably a 3.5, not my favourite.

What was this book?!
I normally love anything by Jenny Colgan, but this was a struggle. I had to trudge through much of the story.
I’m not sure if I disliked it because of how much I hate dating right now, or if it was because of how carelessly Posy treated her engagement to Matt.
By the end of the book, everything came around and I could look back with much more positive feelings. But, oof, what a journey to get there.

2.5 stars rounded up. Jenny Colgan is usually one of my favorite lighthearted authors. But this book just didn’t do it for me. I thought the characters were ridiculous, her mother was horrible, and the plot line just never grabbed me.

This book was definitely not as good as the previous Jenny Colgan book I read. I think the story line could have worked well, with Posy searching for her exes, but for me it didn't.
I thought most of the characters were really annoying, and it wasn't really going anywhere. None of the exes had any sort of charm to me, they were all equally unimpressive.
Some parts were funny, but it wasn't enough for me to really enjoy the book as a whole.

Her other books are better. So a bit of a disappointment for me. But still a nice read.

After checking the reviews, I didn't think I would end up giving this book 4/5 stars. But I found this book to be really good. The language was not high flown, it was very casual. There were no metaphors or allusions. This is just a clean cut narration.
But what made me feel it was a great book was the message. Maybe it was because I could relate to this so well (and understand why and how my past relationship went down the drain, or why was I attracted to the most impossible men). I also learnt what my issues were, and learnt that I had better address them asap if I am to hold on to my Matt.
This book, though no one would dare call it a classic, made me reflect, self-explore and learn. I think that is what a piece of Lit is supposed to do.
