I really don't want to give this book 5 stars because the author kind of pisses me off, and I by no means support or condone the guy and his actions, but this book was breathtaking, to say the least. I only just started getting back into reading, and since I've started, not once have I stayed up a full night reading till this book. I laughed, cried, blushed, and yelled. It was an experience. And I do have a bias, because I LOVE werewolves AND romances, so this was perfect. That being said, this book does have problems. One, the age gap. Seriously, the author didn't have to make it that big, (about 6 years-ish but they meet when one is a kid and the other is a teen), it made me uncomfortable at some parts, and luckily I forgot about it once both characters were in their 20s, but still. I mostly blame this on the author and in my mind the bond was the strongest thing, so thats ok, but I'll still just pretend that age gap wasn't a thing. Second, the antagonist was- truly horrifying. Which is a good thing, for writing a character, but like some serious trigger warnings are needed for that guy alone. It was excessive and not needed at some parts. Finally, it dragged on a bit here and there, the anticipation was killing me, but on the other hand it made everything more emotional so maybe it was needed. Despite that and not liking the author as a person, this book was great. I would reccomend to anyone who wants a gay werewolf romance with lovable characters and a long plot, because this book has it. 9.5/10 read.

oh, my FUCKING god I cannot EXPLAIN to you the emotional turmoil I have in finishing this book (I know I'm writing the review a day late, okay? Life got in the way). I can't call it perfect, but it was pretty damn near close. I loved getting to watch Ox grow up throughout the years, and how every time I expected the timeline to slow or stop, it just kept going. I loved the writing style, the way the prose flowed, the little descriptions that made my writer heart sing. I loved all of the characters, and how even after the first time meeting a big group of them like that, I still had a very clear picture of each of them in my head. I've always loved character driven narratives, and often characters can make or break a story for me - in this case, they 100% fucking made it. I don't know how else to say that. The only character I wish we'd gotten to develop more was Kelly but that's why there's three more fat ass paperbacks full of heartbreak on their way to me, right? I don't know what to do with myself now that I've finished this book. Part of me wants to go back and reread it, and part of me wants to go into hibernation until the next three books get to me IN A WEEK. How am I supposed to wait that long? Alas, school gets in the way of both of these plans. I have no doubt, though, that this whole series is going to sit heavy in my heart next to some of my other all time favourites. That's the only thing it deserves.
ALSO I love the werewolf lore. I can't say I'm SUPER well read in the werewolf book genre, but in all the ones I have read, I've never read werewolves in exactly this way. And let me tell you, it was the best. Werewolves deserve this amount of nuance in their inner workings in EVERYTHING, not just this heartbreaker of a book.
