Another WICKED (mwahaha 😈) tale- only this time with Cinderella. And some resolution for Snow White.

Oh my goodness, what did I just read. Randomly picked this up at the book store after barely reading the title. I should've investigated it further.
This is why books should have a rating on them.
Let me be clear. My rating is probably unfair. I wasn't expecting random sex scenes or any of the bizzare plot line.
As ackward as it was for me, I was vaguely interested to know what on Earth was possiibly going to happen in the next book but not enough to screw with my personal values.

It's definitely better than the first one, but the plots of these are so goofy.

Read this one first though could decipher via the ending which fairy tales the previous books were based around. Not having read the earlier books did not diminish this one in any way.

I found this book... uncomfortable... to read. I prefer the stepsister Rose to Cinderella and started wishing the book were from Rose's perspective. Then I recalled that there's a novel from the perspective of one of Cinderella's "evil" stepsisters, but I don't remember the author or title. Maybe Greg Maguire--it sounds like something he'd write.

I liked the ending twists.

Throughout the book are strange typos, mostly in the form of a space between two syllables. For instance, "some one." That kept making me pause. Sometimes small words are omitted.

Es war ganz okay wobei ich fast 5 Tage gebraucht habe um das Buch zu beenden. Weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, ob ich die Serie noch weiterverfolgen werde ...

Big yikes to the epilogue, but other than that, this was one of my favorite retellings of Cinderella. I've read so, so many over the years because it is my favorite fairy tale (Grimm variety, not Disney) and many have been good. I enjoyed the gentleness of this story that is lacking in just about every other tale and it is certainly more risque than other riffs, which I also enjoyed. There is a new lesson or two in this version that are definitely unique to this particular plot, and the happy ending is another quite refreshing one (though somewhat similar to Ash, which I also read this year). I think that we can only tell and retell popular folktales in some many ways before all the twists are used up, but I'm overall very happy with this one.

But JFC, can we not with the incest bit in the epilogue? Seriously.
