I won't lie, after book 5, I was nervous about reading this book. But to my utter surprise and delight, it was nonstop action. I didn't want to stop reading.

As always, I love Claire. She is such a great character, and I love seeing how she attempts to apply her modern medical knowledge to the past. I also liked seeing how Brianna did the same with her engineering skills.

Roger, who I couldn't stand in Fiery Cross, had a great character arc in the book that I appreciated.

Also, that ending?! What?! I did NOT see that coming.

I do think this book could have been a smidgen shorter. I also think the author could take a bit more care when it comes to discussing race, which has been a consistent issue for me.

My version is 1439 pages and I felt every one of them. This thing is slow and drawn out, overly dramatic and the ending was rushed. I like that we see what happened to Ian but the rest of the subplots seemed random and more like they were afterthoughts that part of the actual plot. Things happen way too easily to this family, abductions (excessive numbers of them) notwithstanding.
