Omg this book had me DYING laughing. She takes every stereotypical mom and is spot on with their personalities. Such a fun read!

The Hamilton Beach Moms’ Facebook page is set to offer local moms support, advice, and friendship. When the option to post anonymously is introduced, the page might just have the opposite effect.

As a mom who is a part of a local moms’ Facebook group this felt all too similarly. Competition, rudeness, judgement, and some uncalled for comments can pop up in a blink of an eye and further push people into isolation. However, in lies some beauty and true connections. Told from varying points of view from women of all different backgrounds and family structures, readers get an intimate look behind the screens of what these women are dealing with. What started out as toxic and drama ends up uniting those within the community from a place of love and support. Each character is so different and while we have the token “villain” of the story, you can’t help but root for her character growth. The formatting of this was fun having traditional narrative and inserts of comment threads from the Facebook page posts. This was such a fast paced read and I devoured it in a day, needing to know how each person worked their issues out. Three cheers for including therapy within multiple povs and some tough family topics such as infidelity, childhood trauma, political divide, and even deafness.

I found out about an upcoming book, “Moms Who Read Romance Novels” coming December 1 from Jenifer Goldin. The title intrigued me so much I had to check out her first book, Anonymous Mom Posts. Are you in your local Facebook group or on NextDoor? I don’t know about you, but I get a bit of a thrill when neighbors start arguing about the dumbest shit, then someone throws a “Let’s go Brandon” into a discussion about the best ice cream in my town, and it all crumbles from there lol. Posting anonymously has totally upped the crazy posts, and I have to admit, I’m here for it.

Anonymous Mom Posts by Jenifer Goldin is about the Hamilton Beach Moms Group on Facebook. Laura Perry, the group moderator wants everyone to be friends in the group but doesn’t know how to stop the fighting. When she tries to add anonymous posts to the group it got even crazier, with women posting some seriously private stuff.

“My nose bristles with irritation at the recent rash of snarky comments on the Hamilton Beach Moms’ Facebook page. Is it bringing this community together or tearing it apart? Earlier, a mom posted looking for a company that could provide “unicorns” for her daughter’s birthday. The comments were ruthless.”

Each chapter is about a different mom in the group. We have Laura, the leader. She is the local realtor and the mom of Nora, a deaf teen. Laura and her husband had the surgery for cochlear implants given to Nora when she was just a baby and now Nora is resenting it.

We have Julie Wu who is Jewish and her husband is Chinese. They just moved from Georgia, and Julie is very upset about the new abortion laws there. She and her husband had one when they first got together and she feels very strongly about being pro-choice. Her husband, however, is a conservative and she is questioning whether she can stay married to a man with such opposite political ideologies.

Isabell Whitmore is a vapid nasty snob, the evil rich bitch you love to hate, but she is covering some dark secrets that make her that way. Maggie O’Donnell thinks she just discovered her husband likes to wear women’s underwear. Indira Acharya is a married doctor who thinks she may be in love with someone else. Last is Gabriella Martinez, a family therapist who is obsessed with Star Wars (and cosplay) and whose mom is writing a blog about her sexy escapades as an older woman.

I usually have a problem keeping big casts like this straight, but I didn’t in this book. I was fully invested in every story and I love how they all tied back to the Facebook group. Anonymous Mom Posts has sort of a Real Housewives feel to it, and I’ve not read anything like it before.

Likes:

  • •Completely unique for me.

  • •So relatable! The random posts you read in the story are so accurate to what you’d read in your local group.

  • •I was invested in every character’s issues.

  • •I really loved the story about the deaf girl with cochlear implants.

  • •I read this in one day.

Dislikes:

  • •The Isabell drama was a bit much.

The Down & Dirty:

Anonymous Mom Posts was nothing earth-shattering, but I think it may be one of my favorite books this year. It was just so different and fun. I loved the format of starting each chapter with a post from the group (and responses). I’m anxiously awaiting Moms Who Read Romance Novels, I hope it lives up to this one!

The Hamilton Beach Moms’ group on Facebook is the main source of information and online connection for the affluent California community. Recently, the amount of drama that has been instigated by its posts has been on the rise. With over 5,000 members, there is only so much that its creator and administrator, Laura Perry, can do to referee the discussions and mitigate the issues. She decides to enlist a co-moderator and allow for the option of anonymous posting. Laura soon realizes that this decision has made its members comfortable enough to unleash all of the skeletons in their typically very private closets. Laura plans an in-person event to encourage connection amongst the mom community. Will this event have the positive impact that Laura is hoping for or will it result in exposed secrets?

This was such a bingeable novel! I was immediately invested in each character and loved how seamlessly their perspectives were woven together. I very much related to the positive and negative aspects of social media and the need for support and community amongst moms. While technology and social media can be so positive, this book also reminds us of the benefits of human connection. The format, the use of humor, and the character development made for such an enjoyable read!

A huge thank you to @jenifergoldinwrites for gifting me a copy of her debut novel! Very happy to have had the opportunity to read and review this one. Looking forward to reading her next book 🩷

Received this as an advanced copy. Easy, relatable, fun read. I liked how the author peppered the chapters with the Facebook posts. Most of us probably have a neighborhood FB group that mirrors this one to some extent. Anonymous posts and all!

This debut novel was such a fun and fast read!! The Hamilton Beach Moms Facebook page is a place to post in the community. This had multiple characters POV. The posts were hilarious and end up causing more drama when the hope was to bring the group together. I enjoyed the diverse characters and how they all came together in the end. Each character had struggles of their own. I do feel like each characters story could be so much more or have their own book. Overall this was a great debut that I enjoyed!! Congrats @Jenifergoldin!!! Thank you so much for the ARC!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Anonymous Mom Posts was an absolute delight! From the first page, I could not stop reading! I loved the unique format and how well the book flowed together.

Laura Perry is the moderator of the Hamilton Beach Moms’ Facebook page and hopes the new feature, which allows members to post anonymously, will encourage members to post their questions or concerns without fear. With the new feature, the moms start to post their secrets anonymously, and everything seems to backfire, as rude comments spark more drama. Laura and Gabriella, a new co-moderator, decide to host an in person fundraising event to allow the moms to connect in real life. Will one mom’s plan for revenge threaten the entire community and unveil all the secrets of the community?

I found myself relating to this book so much. Reading through the various comments on anonymous posts was just like what I experience in real life on our local mom groups. I found myself laughing out loud at times because this book was just so true. I really loved how the book showed images of social media posts and the comments. It made it so easy to follow and I just loved the graphics and how they broke up the chapters.

Author was trying to hit on every hot topic under the sun. Way too much to unpack for a book this short.

Enjoyable enough of a book and relevant to all the mom groups I’m in. The characters and their stories didn’t have a tight hold on me though.
