Good twist on vampires, ghosts, werewolves, etc. A whole town of them and humans living together!

Welcome to book two in the Dead Is, series! And what a book it was. It clearly wasn't a case of second-book-in-a-series-syndrome, thank lord. Always afraid to read a second book, I had a few series where the first book was just awesome, but the second book sucked hard, and thus I dropped it.

We got 3 new characters here, Duke and Elise, and Gage. One is a fortune-teller (or so he says), one is
Spoiler a werewolf/shifter
and one is
Spoilera ghost (a hot one at that though)
. All play a very important role in the book.

Though I have to say, Duke was just beyond annoying, you later find out why, but throughout the book, I wanted to smack his head for confusing and stalking Daisy.

Ryan... well is Ryan. He never really talks about things, and in this book it is no different. He should have trusted Daisy, but instead he doesn't, making her worry and understandable also making her pissed off. Luckily at the end of the book they make up and have a good chat about things, a really good chat, one that was really needed at half of this book.

And of course, Daisy, awesome Daisy, our super-sleuth in supernatural things, she still hasn't got a hang of her powers (she still blows up stuff \o/), but she at least tries.

Poppy + Gage, man, that part made me cry. It was just sooo sad, you knew it was coming, but still it killed me to read about it.

All in all, this book has everything. Sleuthing, a murder, wolves, rabbits, stalker fortune tellers and much much more!

These books are my guilty little pleasure. I always feel bad reading them because they are for younger readers but that's honestly why I like them. They are light-hearted, fun, and interesting stories of a young girl, her family, and the bizarre town they live in.

Having read the first book, I knew the book would be cheesy and campy. But that's why I love it! It's like what Twilight was but takes itself less serious. It was hella predictable,
Spoiler how Daisy didn't realize that Ryan was a shifter way before it dawned on here is still a mystery. And of course Duke was not what he said he was! A murder happens soon as he shows up? Really lol?

I also find a kindred spirit in Daisy. Awkward but smart. Romantic but not a guy's pushover. Sam is becoming less and less bitchy but can still get a zinger in when she needs to! Penny is still annoying but becoming more tolerable. Ryan is such a sweetheart. Poppy got more "screen" time this time and that was what I was hoping for in the second book. Still need more of Rose and Nicholas. Hopefully we can get more about Chief Mendez and the mom in the next book. Either way, this book gave me quite a few chuckles so I'm excited about the rest of the series and the spinoff series.

Another nice lil silly stroll down memory lane. Falling in love, a murder mystery, and prom! What’s not to love??

I figured out what was going on with Ryan pretty quick. Too bad it took Daisy till the end of the book. I also knew who was behind the death of the teacher. It's still a fun read and something easy to read when you don't want to tax your brain.

I'd give this 3.5 out of 5. I liked it loads more than the first in the series. I still don't completely get Ryan and Daisy's relationship, though. There's little depth there. I don't know how to explain it.

A cute follow up to "Dead is the New Black." I needed something light and short after going on a spree of several LOOOOONG, dense books and this was perfect. I'd recommend this as a beach read, since it's a YA novel. It's well written and funny, and I'll continue the series.

"You should know, anything is possible in Nightshade."

Another book in this silly series. It's nice that it's light and silly with shifters and paranormal everywhere. It's also high drama - relationship drama, family drama, school/peers drama and even PROM drama. It's a silly, light and quick read.
