3.54 AVERAGE

I was bored for at least 85% of this book, the last 10% or so was better, but...2.5 ⭐️ is the best I can give it.

I enjoyed the actual book, but the mystery wrapped up too quickly at the end, so it wasn’t satisfying. I thought the author was successful in creating an Agatha Christie type mystery.

So. Boring!!!

This was a fun take on the mysterious 11 day disappearance of author Agatha Christie in 1926. I knew of her disappearance, and a little about her life, but after reading this book, I almost hope this is how it all went down! Definitely a great read for anyone who loves Agatha Christie’s work…because this is a mystery within a mystery!
fast-paced

I actually only read a few chapters of this book. All of the questioning of Agatha's husband was boring, and I realized I didn't care why Agatha might have disappeared. I gather that the author made up a scenario in which she did it on purpose to help with her writing career, but the supposition did not hold my interest.

3.5 - the final, gone girl-esque twist, is good but it feels like a slow journey to get there, which feels weird to say because this isn’t particularly long - but now I definitely need to read some Agatha Christie novels!

Agatha’s husband was a cruel and unlikable character, and Agatha Christie’s devotion to him made for a frustrating read. I did enjoy the big reveal at the end, but the flat characters deflated my interest in the book overall.

Benedict writes in such a way as to suck the reader in and make them forget that the story is fictional! I feel compelled to learn more about Agatha Christie's (real) life and ponder for myself why she may have disappeared.

I LOVED every second of this book. From the first few scenes to the very last, I was enthralled, both encapsulated by the story and captivated by the characters. I love to think that this could have been the real story of Agatha Christie and her disappearance! I loved the emphasis on female independence, particularly in a time that prioritized the husband’s comfort and contentedness over the wife’s, and I loved the conclusion. Super glad I read this one :)
