Hmmmm... I don't know...I just don't get all the hype surrounding Nimona. I haven't read any other YA graphic novels so I have nothing to compare this to, but I wasn't totally satisfied with this overall. While the was art beautifully stunning, the story was at times hard to to follow. The pages would sometimes be all over the place and my eyes would be too over stimulated. The story was poorly executed and I also disliked the characters. None of them I found relatable or likable. The writing wasn't anything great either. I hated the ending, it just seems like the author didn't know how to wrap things up so she just did a John Green style ending. The only reason I'm not giving Nimona two stars is because the art is gorgeous.

When I was like 12 a really cool family friend let me have their copy of this book and an adventure time hat and I think they changed the trajectory of my life forever

This graphic novel was so funny but actually had a lot of depth, making me tear up at points. The characters are really nicely fleshed out, with interesting relationships dynamics. It had a “Despicable Me” like vibe, but in the best way possible. The ending was satisfying in an unexpected way. Just all around really well done! Highly recommend.
