Volume 5 of ‘Heartstopper’ was another really cute instalment of Nick and Charlie’s journey. In this volume Nick struggles with his decision for the future—what he wants to study at uni and if he should move away from home, effectively having a long distance relationship with Charlie. The other topic focus was sex. Charlie and Nick prepare to have their first-time together, however Charlie finds himself somewhat hesitant because he’s unsure of his body.

Qué puedo decir. Heartstopper tiene una de las mejores relaciones de pareja alguna vez escritas, sino la mejor. Es tan hermosa y real, son personajes tanta inteligencia emocional. Los amo un montón.

quite surprised by my own rating for this book bc i thought id have enjoyed it more. heartstopper volume 5 retains its signature blend of both the fuzzies and heavy topics, w/ change looming for the main characters, not only externally but also between one another for nick and charlie.

while the resolution's satisfying and oseman effortlessly (seemingly, anyway) explores trickier topics like mental health, eating disorders, sex, sexual orientation and healthy relationships, the former happens a bit too little too late for me, not to mention the uneven pacing. nick and charlie are wayyyyy too co-dependent; not only is it unhealthy but i thought we've alrrady been thru this w/ volume 4???? also the non-communication between them
abt nick's uni choices
for most of the book left me frustrated and overall made the novel not as enjoyable as it couldve been. maybe im outgrowing this series...but im still gonna cop a signed copy of the last volume for sure.

This installation of Nick and Charlie’s romance focuses on Nick deciding on the perfect university, despite it’s relative location to Charlie. It also focuses on Nick and Charlie taking their relationship to the next level and how intense that can feel as a teenager. I love Nick and Charlie and think they’re great role models for other teens for how to behave in teenage relationships.
