Another winner by William Kent Krueger. After reading Ordinary Grace and This Tender Land, I looked through his collection and chose this one because it was his debut novel, and I’ve been on a bit of a debut roll lately. This one was a thriller with some pretty twisted stuff in it …. very different from his others. He’s a master at painting a picture, and with three 5-star novels he is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!

This is a solid political thriller/espionage book. Not as a polished or cohesive as his Cork series, but still a solid book for those who like that sort of book.

I really like Krueger's Cork O'Connor series, so it was no surprise that I liked this book as much as I did. What does surprise me is that he hasn't done a bunch more books with this main character, Bo. If you enjoy political intrigue, you'll like this book. If you read it and enjoy the writing, have an interest in the upper midwest and a dabbling in the local Indians, go grab a Cork O'Connor book.

A fabulous intense thriller that gives you jolt after jolt and surprise after surprise. Just when you think it’s going one place…BOOM, it turns off into a different direction. Main character Bo Thorsen of the Secret Service is a likeable but humanistic character. The plot, though outlandish at times, mostly keeping within the realm of believability, which for a thriller is rare. All in all, this is a great, fast-paced read by a strong mystery author.

This was even better than most of the Cork O'Conner books. Hope we see more of Bo!!!
