I liked this book. I love Rachelle and how she pushes on through everything thrown at her. I hate how she is forced to kill her aunt and end their suffering. I hate how easily she starts killing after. I hate how Armand betrays her but I'm glad they figure out how to free the bloodbound. I hate how she falls in love with Erec and ends up losing him in the end. I'm glad she was able to save everyone and return to normal. Overall this book wasn't too bad but definitely not my favorite. 4 stars.

This was a perfect read to satisfy my missing for Celeana Sardothien.

The main character is part of king's guard but not just any kind of king's guard. These guards are pretty much demons and they basically work as swords for hire except the king is only one bold enough to hire them.

I like that there were two very different love interest. Honestly I'm not sure if one of them could even be considered as a love interest, he seemed more like a toxic work friend who just won't stop harassing you and reading the scenes where he was present always made me sick. But the relationship between the two really brought some depth to her story.

I have started to appreciate these kinds of retellings of old fairytales. This one is clearly about Little Red Riding Hood but also it kind of reminds me of some aspects of Hansel and Gretel. Also the author was inspired by the story of The Girl Without Hands but I have never heard of it before.

Like the idea, hate the writing. Hodge comes up with interesting takes for her books, just wish I could enjoy the writing.

An enchanting fairytail fusion, marred by an annoying main character. Marked by a forestborn, Rachelle is given the choice to kill within 3 days or face death, she kills. We cut to years later where she has become of the King's Bloodhounds, feared by the people but necessary to keep the peace.

It's a great set up with a really annoying character who just makes terrible decisions. She's squeamish, hates what she is, distrustful of everything and even more annoyingly shy of anything even hinting towards sex.

I get that this is character development, but by the time Rachelle had gotten a spine I really almost didn't care anymore.

Okey, let's see. Me gustó.

I really wanted to like this book, but couldn't. Some issues I had were that the characters were not really likeable and white stagnant. They were bland and had motivations that seemed plot-driven to get from point a to b.

Yes, there were some twists that were interesting, but the world building was non existent and the main character just kind of let everyone drag her through the mud without sticking up for herself. Nothing was really easily explained and it leaves the reader feeling like pieces are missing.
