Good quality writing but VERY dark materials and doesn’t put you in the best place if you’re easily triggered.

i think if i had read this at another time, i may not have liked it so much. it is, arguably, a book where nothing happens.
a sad girl living a sad life who feels sad for herself and loves living inside of her sadness. these, however, are the kinds of books that i’m dying to read right now so i really enjoyed it

I personally loved reading this book from start to finish. The premise was enthralling and Moshfegh’s writing was immersive and immaculately paced throughout this book. The protagonist’s lens and dialogue were hilarious, especially if you find the banter of Ryan Murphy characters humorous. I think My Year Of Rest And Relaxation does an earnest job of showing a number of the downs mental illness wields, as or protagonist is noticeably declining throughout the duration of the book. Overall I loved reading this novel, it was a quick read that i couldn’t put down and I highly recommend it.

If you read a book about someone sleeping and popping pills for an entire year, very surprisingly it is not going to be interesting.

I liked half of the book, however…… Too much yapping on the self loathing business though. And i didn’t like the ending either.
