A good well-rounded read bit not superb enough to be a favorite.

Two women - one Irish and the other American - switch their homes for the summer and discover that their tragedies do not define them. It is kind of like the movie Holiday but with older and wiser women.

It took me a long time to finish this book. It was extremely long and the beginning half was very drawn out. I feel like it wasn’t as good as it could have been. But it was a decent book.

I would likely retitle this book "Dolts, Dicks, and Doormats." It's titles like these that give Oprah's book club its bad reputation. If you're looking for a Lifetime Original Movie in print form, look no further. I'm glad to be done, and I wouldn't have bothered to finish had this not been my own book club's selection this month. And now for some Marian Keyes to get the bad chick lit taste out of my mouth!

Well this was an interesting read. As Binchy's strong suit, always weaving tales of the lives of many, she managed to tell a tale of love and heartache and healing. This was a very interesting story of two young loves, a husband reaching for the stars and the wife following his dreams. However, all of the dreams that were reached weren't enough for this bright, handsome husband and he still wanted more, while the wife was left dependent and longing. Friendships were important in many aspects and not all what they seemed either. It was a very crazy web of relationships but written so well that it was so easy to keep up.

I love stories with happy endings and great romances, and this had some of that ... but I think the ending was subjective in its happy ending. I did enjoy this story very much though and the way Binchy writes. Her style and ability to keep up the stories of so many lives is unbelievable. She was very talented.

I recommend this story greatly.

I had a hard time with this one. I just couldn't like any of the characters. I felt like it dragged on way too much.
