I give it 3.5 stars
I did it. I finished! That ending was...I'm not sure. Very Post-Modern and Avant Garde to say the least.
This was very academic fantasy meets magical realism.
Setting the stage, the story unwinds quite slow. Every time the plot revealed something new, it was so odd and baffling. I was quite riveted and intrigued as to how everything would pan out (no pun intended). However, it was a very soft climax and I felt like I was left wanting. I'd read this again for nuance though.
I might be wrong, but perhaps the story is supposed to convey how people would have to be mad to favor that which is an artifice of reality, rather than reality itself? Though people crave community, they still find beauty in solitude? This a very beautiful and artistic story, and I'm pretty sure I don't understand it fully.
CONTENT: Zero sexual or violent content. Contains profanity.

Very different from anything else I’ve read, parts were slow, but generally found it interesting.
