Days Without End is exquisite, haunting, beautiful and horrific in equal measure. The violence is ever present simmering and the seething in every page. But the love of Thomas and John for each other and for Winona seers through the horror and envelopes the reader. This book is yet another thing of beauty from the incomparable Sebastian Barry

This is a beautiful book about ugly things like genocide and war and the poisonousness of the desire for revenge. But it's also about beautiful things like love and family and perseverance. I loved, loved the language of this book. And I loved the narrator, Thomas. He's honest and loving and flawed and perfect.

it wasnt gay enough i fear but we did get the transgender western out of it. starling carlton was giving the judge and it seems like barry was inspired by mccarthy in the flow of his narrative; but i think he flopped directly on his face when it came to the stunningly brutal violence contrast with breathtaking country imagery. it was fine. probably wont read the next
