Sports romance novels don't normally grab my attention, but I'm glad I decided on reading this one. My heart is still on the slopes.

Spangler's Edge of Glory features two athletes who belong to the same athletic association—the USSA (United States Ski & Snowboard)—but who have very little else in common. After a long and successful career in the upcoming sport of snowboard cross, thirty-year-old Corey LaCroix is spending as much time fending off questions about retirement as she is training for the upcoming Olympics. The sport's become far more regimented, far less free-spirited than it was when she she was a carefree 18-year-old winning her first gold medal, and she's wondering whether her own freewheeling days of hearty partying and sleeping with any woman eager to fall into her bed are—or should be—behind her, too...

The fact that I read this book in two days is a testament to how good the story is. I have read three books by this author recently and all of them dealt interestingly with characters coping with personal motivations for career decisions. I keep coming back for more. Maybe I need to examine my career path...:)

There is something about sports romance books that always gets me.

I enjoyed Edge of Glory so much more than I expected.

Needed something quick and light and human for a change so tropey gay Olympian romance it is. It was cute and, while in bad need of a copy editor, it does exactly what it says on the tin. I'm gonna read more from this author for sure.

If I share my Bywater Books acct with you, this one is on there!

I love a queer romance between two complex, independent women, and any time one is written and shared with the world, I'm glad for it. Unfortunately, this one didn't really grab me. I read it for a book club, and when I didn't finish it in time for the book club meeting, the final forty pages remained unread for almost two months afterward. I finally went back and finished it, mostly out of my completionist tendencies and because I ran out of library auto-renewals. It was more engaging than I remembered it, but it still wasn't anything I would really recommend. To be fair, if you're really into sports, especially Olympic competition, skiing, and/or snowboarding, you may feel very differently.

High energy romance featuring a dude-bro energy snowboarder and ice queen skier.

The chemistry was pretty good, and it was nice to read a different type of sports book. I think there could have been more done to expand some of the feelings that contributed to the big grump and subsequently the makeup.

The one thing I will mention is that the reckless snowboarder was a little awkward at the beginning. Sometimes chaos is awkward to write naturally, but it did get there. After about 10 to 15 percent, the voice and character did become clearer and more consistent.

Otherwise, the foundation was set pretty well throughout the book, and most of the reasons and reactions made sense. If you're craving a thematic winter sport themed read, this might be for you.
