I'd love to spend time in David Sedaris's mind.

I listened to this in audio form... i was thoroughly bored. It seriously was causing me to doze off in the car !

Not as funny as his other books, but some true gems in the last half of the book.

Type of read: Commuter (listened to and from work)

What made me pick it up: Suggested book in my public library audiobook app.

Overall rating: I wasn't quite sure what to expect with 'Dress Your Family...' but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. There was dark humor, there were stories of teenage emotional distress, there were those moments where you go 'maybe my family isn't THAT crazy after all.' There were also parts that I know I looked like an absolute maniac on my commute, cackling like a sugar-hyped hyena. I enjoyed this book and would actively pick up more from Sedaris in the future.

Not quite as funny as When You Are Engulfed in Flames was(which was the first Sedaris book I’d read), but I really did enjoy this book. I think it really picked up on charmingness after the second half. He manages to capture the simultaneous monotony and chaos of everyday life, and I find that style of writing incredibly refreshing. Found myself noting surprisingly profound passages immediately followed by a hilariously absurd event.

Homely, comforting and easy to read. Needed something not to hard and I got it.

A classic David Sedaris, and one with stories that can be revisited again and again, like an old friend.
