I wasn’t exactly thrilled by this thriller.

It was interesting, but none of it was particularly shocking.

I'm a bit torn about this one

I enjoyed the ending but in the same way it comes with some more questions and problems set previously in the book. I was shocked, absolutely but that doesn't mean I'm head over heels for it. I was also kind of dreading picking up this book over and over again and I just "had" to finish it which is not a good feeling. The 60-100% mark went by really fast and I was interested in seeing how it wrapped up and I do enjoy "how" it ends and what that means for our "villain" but like I said, I'm not without questions and this left me wondering a bit more than I want.

I would definitely check out another book from this author however since I know she's a tiebreaker in the community.

I don't usually go for thrillers, but the secluded nature of this book made it easier for me to compartmentalize it. Overall, I recommend this book, even though there were a few distracting plot holes. I can't really say much more without giving it away other than I recommend the audiobook. Most of the dialogue is inner character monologue, which makes an audible voice helpful while reading.

 If you're willing to suspend your disbelief for this book, I would give it a try.

~~~Spoiler Time~~~
The biggest plot hole that got me was Adrienne getting so upset about EJ filming her slash someone's tires. I would be more concerned that EJ was following me. I don't think a video of you damaging someone's property would "end your career". She's a woman of means: she could have hired a lawyer and a publicist and she would have been fine. If my psychiatrist slashed someone's tires and apologized for it, I don't think it would be as big of a deal as the book made it out to be. Was it a bad thing to do? Absolutely, but not life ruining. She would maybe get hit with a misdemeanor, especially if it was only one tire and cost less than $500.
I was trying to guess the ending by thinking Ethan was just EJ (the same first initial I think), so the twist really got to me. I think it was cool that he was somewhat involved because her mother was a former patient, so no one was really blameless in this situation (other than Luke, I guess). This book was an amazing exploration in "what if the bad guys actually win?" I loved the concept.
Never Lie by Frieda McFadden is a solid, fast-paced thriller that keeps you guessing.
Like her other books, it follows a familiar formula of misdirection and unexpected twists. I was hooked throughout, and the ending did surprise me - once in a way I enjoyed and once where it felt a bit too convenient.
My main gripe is when twists don’t quite align with earlier parts of the story, which happened here. A twist should surprise us, not the characters.
That said, it’s a decent read if you’re after a quick, engaging thriller that doesn’t demand too much depth.
