This was a very inspiring tale from a very strong woman. I enjoyed hearing about both her life story and her activism. However, the style was a bit detached and journalistic I came away feeling that there was more to the topic that wasn't explored. Nevertheless, It provoked a fantastic discussion for the Shelterbox book club and was a great choice.

What an incredible woman. A good, informative but easy read. It does not spare the reader in showing what FGM is but it's full of heart and hope. We can all learn a lesson about asking rather than telling as an act of negotiation..

I found this both inspirational and informative. Got through it quickly and learned a lot. However, I did find it a bit repetitive at times and although I normally like short chapters, I found these too short - as soon as I was engaged in a story or memory it would end and move to another too quickly.
