This didn’t do it for me. The lack of character development and disjointed structure left me wanting more. I feel like I can’t answer the question “what is this about?”

This book is a masterpiece in contemporary Latin fiction. It’s so strange how it manages to capture the Miami Cuban American experience in a way that feels deeply relatable, personal, yet also not. I could be any of these women. I know many of these women. It is brutally realistic in its depictions and that may be a a pro or con depending on how you look at it. I finished this in roughly 2 days simply because I was being lazy but the ending did almost bring me to tears. We are force. Highly recommend 5/5. This might be my book of the year.

P.S. they’re are so many things I highlighted from this book that will stick with me.
