I didn't understand the hype until the last 30-some pages of this book—that could've been partially my fault, as I somehow didn't pick up on the fact that
SpoilerKathy and the Hailsham students were clones
until far later in the book than I think was intended. That being said, I loved the unique nature and plot trajectory of this book. I'm not a science fiction girlie, but this book is far different than traditional science fiction novels—I think dystopia is a far better descriptor for it.
