Charlie & the others are trying to move on from the tragedy of last book, but it's hard to do that when people keep popping up dead with the exact wounds that the springlocks in an animatronic suit would cause.

I wanted to rip out my eyes with this book. Charlie is sooooo fucking annoying. I was really impressed that last book stayed with the YA brand but didn't get that annoying YA logic. This one totally failed the test though. More to say in the spoilers section.
John was awkward and a lil cringe but I could tell that his character was a genuine awkward teenage boy.
The story itself was a little fucking weird, even by FNAF standards. It felt kinda slap dash and I was annoyed by that. Especially when there are so many other ways this could have gone down.

OMG what is this book??? A cop letting a college girl TOUCH a dead body??? Letting her poke around a dead person's house before the police??? Then her standing up John at every single chance she could! Like if you don't like him then don't play this shit. Like she just kept being like "Yeah lets go out!" and then was super annoyed and frustrated the whole time they're together. I hated being forced to read the book from her perspective.
THen the fact that the suits burrowed into the ground like fucking worms????? And the disk things?? And CHarlie literally being murdered at the last second?? And her just being a fucking weirdo the whole time??? Springtrap just tossed in there at the end? OMG I wish I had gotten to die in the rubble of that building just to make thing interesting.

The mystery and adventure were very fun in this one, but the way some of the characters behaved (mostly charlie and clay) lowkey drove me nuts at times

i liked the first one way more. hopefully the last book will be better. this was just kinda boring, but it wasn't terrible. i mean, it's a fnaf book, so it's not going to be amazing, but it was still enjoyable for what it was.

"The Twisted Ones" is written in a similar style to the first book, with short, fast-paced chapters and a tense, suspenseful atmosphere. The characters are well-developed, and their relationships with each other are complex and interesting. The horror elements are well-done, with plenty of creepy imagery and jump scares to keep readers on edge.

One of the strengths of the book is its exploration of the themes of family, identity, and trauma. Charlie is still grappling with the aftermath of her father's crimes and the trauma she experienced as a child, and these issues are explored in a thoughtful and nuanced way. The book also delves deeper into the mythology of the Five Nights at Freddy's universe, revealing new information about the animatronic characters and their origins which, as a massive FNaF lore nerd, I adore.

Overall, "The Twisted Ones" is a strong follow-up to "The Silver Eyes" that delivers on the scares and adds depth to the series' mythos. It will appeal to fans of horror and the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise alike, as well as readers who enjoy character-driven stories with themes of trauma and identity.

Having been brought into the Five Night's fold by my husband and quite enjoying the first novel, I made fairly short work of the second novel. After their adventures of the last novel, the gang have once more separated, however Charlie has returned to her home town for university. Following in her father's footsteps, she is studying robotics, although we can only hope that her future creations don't turn out as crazy or as murderous...

But life once more gets complicated and perhaps dangerous when Charlie is drawn into a series of low profile deaths in the area. She's very well acquainted with her father's work, the spring locks that hold his robots together and the damage they can do when set off with a human inside. The bodies are found with injuries matching those from a spring lock suit. But the robots were removed from Freddy Fazbear's after the last disastrous adventure, and the villain is out of the picture so what can be causing the deaths?

Much like the first novel, this is a fairly muted horror novel wrapped up in a crime/mystery gift box. It's got a definite creepy air and build up of suspense, but the horror doesn't ramp up until the concluding chapters. The character group is somewhat smaller here as well, which generally works well for the novel. I liked the blending of crime and horror, with the sense of unease and uncertainty that pervaded through the novel. Could have done without the giant cliff-hanger it finished on though!
