Como bien lo dice Carlos Ruiz Zafón en la Sombra del viento: Los libros son espejos; sólo se ve en ellos lo que uno ya lleva dentro. Tristemente en este libro de Roberto Bolaño no encontré ningún reflejo. El tema que aborda no me resulto en absoluto cercano y la trama no logro atraparme. Fue mi primer acercamiento a Bolaño y si bien no recomendaría este libro, conocí varias cosas del autor que me generan curiosidad y por esto quisiera darle una segunda oportunidad.

mi mamá me comentó que este libro era un desorden, que iba de acá pa allá, pero yo amé eso. incluso la narración, tan dinámica y como si nada fuera realmente en serio, funcionaba igual en los momentos mas tensos. buen cahuín, qué mas voy a decirle a don bolaño.

I couldn't quite tell you why I enjoyed this so much, but I devoured it on a warm, lazy Saturday, tearing through Bolaño's (via Andrews' translation) insistent, hurried clauses and sentences that formed neverending paragraphs. There were intersections with things that were familiar, and a good deal of the new and previously unknown. I'd like to check out By Night in Chile next.
