I don’t usually like mistake identity but this works perfectly in this one. Dove somehow gets mistaken for her spy sister. Also, surprise she had no clue her sister was a spy. Not only was she in the dark but she must work with her handsome partner. This was a super fun ride!

Mini review for The Spy and I by Tiana Smith Dove Barkley is in the right place at the wrong time is mistaken for her super spy sister because of their resemblance. Now she’s running from some bad guys worried about her sister safety. Mendez claims he’s her sister partner and he’ll keep her safe. But is he telling the truth and why does she catch herself wanting to kiss him? Come join Dove the hacker who uses her skills for good mind you and her journey as she navigates the spy world. This story was is has romance and action two of my favorite things. Mendez is swoony and says all the right things. And I love Dove quirky character she’s smart and even in the scary moments she might think something snarky and funny. I really loved this book once I got into it O sat up late into the night because I wanted to finish and couldn’t put it down. Things I loved : *The action & mystery

Content Warnings include: Steamy Kisses , Foster Care Rep ( which I loved that this was included), the threat of violence since this is a spy book and bad guys are after her.

Definitely more slow burn romance than spy book, almost a spy cozy. There’s some tech but it’s easily understandable, and there is violence that mostly happens offstage. It’s cute, so don’t expect any hard edges here, still entertaining.

Dove Barkley may make a living hacking into computers, but it’s all above board! She is honest, respectable, and definitely not an undercover CIA operative. When a group of bad guys mistakes Dove for her agent sister, she gets pulled into a world of covert ops and a high stakes mission with world changing ramifications. The only bonus to this intense world that Dove never singed up for is Mendez, the man who claims to be her sister’s partner, and who is attractive as he is capable.
The beginning and ending of this book brought action and a high speed plot, while the middle gave most of the character development. I loved the secret-spy aspects of this story and would have loved even more of it! My big hang up was even when lives were in danger, Dove was primarily thinking about her feelings for Mendez, hardly breaking enough to focus on the scary bad guys who wanted to kill them. Still, it was a very fun story, funny, and entertaining!
