Still, it was way too long and for me, it didn't add much (with the exception of a couple of chapters) for Dalinar's backstory that hadn't been said before.
It is a great book, just the weakest of the three, IMO.

This book continues to follow the main cast of characters we've followed for awhile now: Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, Adolin and a whole bunch of others. This picks up right where Words of Radiance left off, so I can't really say too much about it other than it continues to delve into each of our characters journey's deeper than we have been.
As with all of Sanderson's works, I continued to enjoy the world building. We didn't get as much of it as I would've liked in this book, but the little we did get was great. This continues to be where Sanderson excels the most with his works.
The writing was fine, not as solid as Words of Radiance, but still easy to follow and fun and engaging - some parts more than others. The pacing was generally ok, and the overall flow was decent as well.
The plot was fine as well. It continued on with the overarching story we've been following for the last three books - war, political intrigue and finding out more about the past that lead them to the moment they're in now.
Finally, the characters. We've been following all of these characters for awhile now and I'm still attached to some of them over others. My favorite is probably still Shallan, but I also love certain dynamics she has with characters like Adolin and Kaladin. But her arc was a little bit more concerning this time. Kaladin's storyline mostly bored me throughout depending on where we were in the book, and Adolin had an interesting time of it, especially with what happened at the end of Words of Radiance, but I felt like he didn't get enough autonomy and was just leeching off of Shallan's character for most of the book. This was primarily Dalinar's book though. We got his backstory and spent a large majority of our time with him and it was a lot emotionally.
All in all, another decent installment and the end, as with most of Sanderson's works, was great and I'm curious to find out what's going to happen next.
