Still digging it, despite big changes in narrative and artwork. Grew attached to what was, curious to see what will be. Certain background characters have suddenly become much more focal and interesting.
Haven't the slighted idea what is happening in this story of gods who can be human for two years before dying and come to earth as pop stars. But the idea and its resulting look at fame, celebrity and hero worship is so compelling and brilliantly drawn, I don't care.

i am burning these issues out like wildfire and there is a reason i wont stop and it scares me
3.5 stars rounded up. It's still fun and interesting, but WicDiv is starting to lose its sparkle. This trade feels like 6 beautifully-drawn issues of treading water.
Not good, I'm out. The story makes absolutely no sense. Why do I care about these characters? What is going on?
The fact that the art completely changed for this issue doesn't help at all.

Ha! I actually liked this one better than the others! I guess it is my fondness for single issues. I liked that it followed a character and their backstory for an issue, and I liked the different art styles. Yes! Even the one that like, everyone is saying is ugly. I loved it! Hey guy, if you are reading this, I loved it! Another thing is that I never thought this series was that great to begin with. It's high concept, which... is not a compliment.
Already thought the storyline was hard to follow.. and it got worse in volume 3. Meh.
I received a copy of this via Netgalley, where it was made available as a "read now" title. This is an honest review.
Ah, this series doesn't disappoint. I don't have a lot to say about this volume that I haven't already said about this series - beautiful art, really interesting choices of mythology, great diversity, all that jazz.
This is the least mysterious of the volumes so far. Most of the issues are origin stories for the gods, which is really good because I've been wondering about them. A few of the questions that have been carried through from volume 1 are answered, and we finally get to meet Tara. It's the most linear volume so far, which makes for a less intellectually demanding reading experience, but that comes at the cost of some of the wow factor of the previous volumes. There's less glitter and fewer explosions and it's just not quite as mind blowing or breathtaking as volumes 1 and 2. It's not a bad thing, but I just didn't have the same kind of visceral reaction to this as I did to the others, volume 2 especially, which is why I've only given it four stars.
That said, it is not without mystery. I still can't quite figure Ananke out, and something that we thought happened in volume 2 might not have actually happened, so that's exciting. I greatly enjoy this series as whole and this is a really good volume, if a little less shiny than the others. I'm really looking forward to the next instalment.

Pretty good. Wasn't a huge fan of the changing art styles, it's a bit off-putting when you're binge reading!
The story needs to be a bit more fleshed out (like Tara's/Morrigan's story for everyone??) and a little bit more cohesive.... maybe it will all come together in the end? As this story goes on it's harder to keep reading as the story doesn't move too much and the characters are all crazy mysterious enigmas.
...but anyway, here I am still reading and still totally invested in what's going to happen. What can you do?
