I cannot say enough good things about Kerri Maniscalco and her books. I automatically buy anything she puts out.
This book follows the Prince of Gluttony and I absolutely loved his appearances in throne of the fallen so I was very excited about his book!! Long story short, the book follows Adriana who is a gossip column writer who becomes entangled with our lovely prince. She hates him, he eggs her on, there is so much banter and undeniable chemistry. As much as she tries to avoid him and her attraction for the man of the hour, she finds herself being pulled deeper into the world of secrets, dangerous court politics, and mysteries.
I love all the female main characters in Kerri’s books and Adriana was no different. She’s an independent, witty, intelligent, driven, and doesn’t stand for Gabriel’s bs. She’s a breath of fresh air for the man. Kerri doesn’t make her characters seem like damsels in distress that need a man to come save them. If anything, she writes them the other way around. The charismatic male, who is use to getting everyone and everything he wants but comes head to head with a female that couldn’t care less that he’s royalty.
Half of my rating goes to the prince himself, honestly. Axton aka Gabriel aka Prince Gluttony. I loved him. He’s charming, a man full of banter, has a filthy mouth and made me giggle the whole time.
However, the ending felt rushed and I feel like everything was figured out and accomplished within like two chapters. The connection between the characters was there when it was slow burning but all of a sudden, he was just obsessed with her and I was waiting to see like why??? What happened for this change of heart. You hung out with each other like twice and now you’re in love?? If you know you know I guess! In terms of spice and connection, throne of the fallen was the better of the two. If you want some salt and pepper spice with some good banter and a decent plot, then yes. Read this.

(spoilers) Although both (1st and 2nd book) are predictable and have almost every romantasy trope in the book..I still eat it up. In my opinion the first book was better because I can't stand a miscommunication trope or a weird love triangle that involves sisters (think Bridgerton). The second 100 pages of the book were so frustrating because of these, but of course it wrapped up fine in the end.
