  Read for Book Committee 2024 (DNF - 0 - 1 - 2)
Rep: Singaporean (Author) -
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
This was interesting and moved very quickly making me want to find out WHO DID THE THING. I had actually guessed it but then I was like that's ridiculous its not that and then it was and I was like... okay. If you can suspend reality ALOT you can follow and believe this story. However the end of the book seemed to connect violent acts with mental illness which is a dangerous yet common rhetoric to push. If the book didn't have the last 15 pages I would have said a teen may enjoy this but with the ending the way it is I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.

This high school psychological YA thriller went one way and then did a sharp turn. The narrative is clever and the characters intrigued me to the end. I didn’t fully see the major twists coming; I wondered about one of them about 1/2 way through but convinced myself I was wrong.

I saw a couple other reviews complain about how the mental health issues were handled at the end. Mental health issues are absolutely no joke, however I look at it as this is not a work of non-fiction.

I don’t typically read YA but if the author writes another, I’ll definitely check it out.

Note: Bullying and attempted suicide trigger warnings, please read with care.

Upcoming release date of May 7, 2024. Thank you very much to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire for the early e-book.

If you took the popular crowd from mean girls, bullying from Cyberbully, murder from literally any Lifetime cheerleading movie and splash of the movie Girl Fight you would get this and I am here for it. I honestly did not see that twist coming
