A heartwarming book. Although the ending was a little predictable and the writing was overly sweet (was expected from a book aimed at a younger audience) I really enjoyed this book and its characters. I do wish it could have explored more of the harsh realities of the orphanages and the trauma, instead of the overly sweet dialogue and adventures. Some parts also felt very repetitive with talk of how the children are so misunderstood etc etc. His home back in the city felt overwhelmingly boring and sad and his life with the children felt overly perfect and happy like a fairytale. But maybe happy books just aren’t for me. Despite all of that I did still enjoy reading this and will be reading the sequel.

oh my heart this was so cute and wholesome! if you need a feel-good escapist read, you need to pick up this book. all of the characters were so lovable and unique and the setting was so warm and comforting. also arthur- my man, he’s got style. i ship him and linus so much <33 and the message of this book is very poignant: sometimes our families are not by blood, but who we surround ourselves with. (whew, i got tears in my eyes)
my only complaint would have to be some of the dialogue being a little too over-the-top for my taste and the author being problematic, which is a real bummer since this is a really lovely story. nonetheless, you gotta read this.

This was okay. But nothing to write home about. Felt like a cheesy fanfiction which is not a bad thing at all if you do it right. Maybe my expectations were too high.
