I started out loving this book and then it slowly became more of a chore to read, specifically after Jane met Mr. Rochester 😭 Charlotte’s writing is beautiful though. I’d say overall I respected this more than I enjoyed it.

One of my favorite stories, solely because Jane is that strong of a character. Reader, these stars are not for Mr. Rochester who reminds me of more than a couple of Matt Berry’s television personas, or St. John who still somehow manages to be the awful one of the two.

One of my favourites from being a teenager. The religion and colonial aspects now deter me a bit more as I understand them more fully, but I still love the book. Rochester is such an arsehole, but flawless characters are, I suppose, less interesting.
