This book was epically terrible. The writing structure, the misogyny, the self doubt. Both characters are whiny and have no business dating. The guy is a womanizer. The girl has all these self confidence issues without it being explained in the book. The inner dialogue is annoying along with the dual 3rd person POV. The thoughts and flow of the book changes within one sentence to the next. It skips far ahead without and explanation. You are left thinking ummmm what?! Guess we aren’t gonna get that scene🤣 it was just terrible. I’ll give it one more shot with book 2 as I’m hoping it’s Olivia’s story but other than that, idk how this book is traditionally published and other Indy writers have such a hard time,l. This was a train wreck and the book had a major identity crisis, with so so much potential…2/5 stars

Lovely to read a book about an average black girl failing in love with someone of a different race. Great to see it normalized

Perfect Summer read! I just loved this romance between sexy Dr. Drew and sweet Alexa Monroe. All the heart eyes! Bonus: also includes some serious, thought provoking discussions about race and inequity.

It was a cheesy but fun premise, but I didn’t end up finishing it because (a) I wasn’t really invested in the story and (b) it was too sexy of an audiobook to be listening to while I clean the house with my toddler and my dad.

My biggest problem with this book is that Alexa is a weak woman. Every time that she said she would do “absolutely anything” for Drew because he was hot just made me cringe.
I also don’t really like romance books that don’t have a plot outside of the relationship.

I did enjoy the mixed-race aspect though!
