it's hard to ignore that the original myths weren't matching the modern homoerotic exclusive twist Madeline gave it.
this isn't heartstopper, and Achilles isn't really that morally great by today standarts(I mean didn't he raped several woman in the OG?) so I kinda feel like we should've also seen that instead of suger coating it

This is definitely my new favorite book. I never cried over a book so much. This deserves all of the five stars and then some. This is beautifully written and I would do anything to read it for the first time again. Madeline Miller did an amazing job on this retelling and I would recommend it to anyone.
The relationship between Achilles and Patroclus was amazing which lead to their demises in the end.
Again I cried so much even though I knew what happened…. I can’t say this enough how much I love this book and I love how it written. 10/10 would recommended.😭✨

I thought people were exaggerating when they said how sad this book was - THEY WERENT. Very rarely does a book make me cry but this one did the trick, and also kept me up all night. It is literally the saddest thing ever. The end of this book really saved it for me, all the way through I was floating between a 4 and 4.5 rating simply because there are SO MANY CHARACTERS. And they have SO MANY different names, and I get that it’s all the mythology and stuff but I found it sooo hard to keep track at times and who I should actually be keeping track of and who is going to important to the story that I need to remember later on. Overall it was beautifully written with wonderful characters. Read if you want to cry!

8/10. Pretty gay. I know the story of Achilles pretty well which made all of the foreshadowing lines very nice. I didn't know how involved Thetis was in the story. I liked how Achilles, who could be easily seen as arrogant and haughty, was portrayed as a rounded person from Patroclus' point of view. Overall, I liked it but I wouldn't say it's an instant favorite.

Miller’s writing is so lyrical and divine. Her ability to effortlessly pass through time made reading this novel so fluent. Lots of emotions after finishing this.
