Is Love the Answer is a coming of age story about a young woman who has never experienced romantic or sexual attraction and is trying to figure out who she is and what love is for her peers. We meet her in high school and follow her through her first year of college where she meets new people who help answer the questions she has and help her foster the community she needs.
If I was solely rating this book based on my personal enjoyment of it, the rating would be lower. I got bored frequently, got annoyed with the main character's propensity to yell, and found the translation to lack depth.
That said, I could still see this book being great for some people. I would recommend this for teenagers, folks who are new to asexuality, and people who like manga.

A wonderful and sweet manga about an aro-ace girl figuring herself out. This is more of a character study than a manga with a complicated plot, but that doesn't matter. Several different sexualities and gender identities are explored in this story, with asexual being the centre point. I think this also works as a great introduction to ace literature, since it explains a lot of the terminology. Sometimes, it all feels a little too infodumpy and the main character spends a lot of time "listing" ace facts for the reader. Still, a very sweet and important manga that I would definitely recommend to fellow aces/aros and all who are interested in good queer rep.

oh boy, did this deliver!! chika was an exact representation of my experience with asexuality (+aromanticism) and seeing that represented was just so healing! i loved that the book explored how fluid sexuality is, how people react to asexuality/how being ace excludes you from society and that there isnt a sexual norm.
apart from chika‘s experience this manga manages to showcase at least two other characters that identify as asexual and manages to give the reader an understanding of how different asexuality can look in different people! the author also managed to flash out other sexualitys and what they may have in common with asexuality.
the artstyle was gorgeous, i especially loved the drawings with chika in space and all the alien references, because that is on point! (i also really appreciated the cat🐈⬛)

The book follows main character Chika as she struggles to understand why, unlike some of her friends, she struggles to feel sexual and romantic attraction.
Her friends constantly tell her, "you just need the right guy," but , Chika doesn't share the same feelings as her friends no matter who she meets. She is constantly bombarded with what is considered normal behaviour with complete disregard to how she would be feel.
When she attends University , she begins to explore and understand a little more about her gender identity.

Only complaint is that I wish it were longer
Where was this when I was a teenager? A very wholesome read explaining that there's no normal/ abnormal representation for everyone.
A very good read, for any ages, even though you think you are "in the know".
Thank you to Netgalley for an e-arc of this manga.
