I loved this book. It wasn’t perfect but the characters felt so real. As someone who deals with anxiety myself being able to read about someone (even if they’re fictional) who’s mind works similarly to mine was so refreshing. I appreciate how realistic the anxiety representation in the novel was and that there wasn’t some magical “fix” where suddenly the anxiety was gone. Sure it got better but so many times you see that authors like to have a solution for everything. Instead readers get to watch Everly’s development and go through the journey of her gaining confidence. BUT the anxiety is never fully gone it is still a very present part of her life. I also think the way others interacted with her for better or worse and the struggles she’s gone through were super accurate which I appreciated. I feel as though I should also say that I did like the romance and the slow-burn but I was so caught up in loving the representation in such an accurate way.

my girl Everly needs therapy and it’s a crime that it was never mentioned in this book

I struggle with anxiety as well and this was a hard read. I felt like she was a little insufferable at times and it made it hard as a reader to like her. It seemed that there were repeating issues and barely a solution. She kept throwing the divorce in his face even after having a conversation about it. I felt like Stacey wasn’t that understanding and made things about her too much. Sure, she didn’t understand the anxiety but she got mad at her way too often. She made the whole Chris thing about her when Everly was upset. We barely see a romantic connection between Everly and Chris; it’s more romantic incidents here and there. And then all of a sudden, BOOM I love yous are dropped. For someone so opposed to rash love situations, she said it really fast. The book felt plain and empty and the plot was weak along with the characters.

I agree with a lot of reviews, it is a slow burn but one that I definitely wanted to see to the end. I really connected to the main character because her anxiety is well written in my opinion; I always have so many thoughts in my head so I connected a lot. I also love novels that give us the perspectives of both main partners. All in all, I really liked the book and am excited to continue reading Sophie Sullivan’s novels!

This was fun, if a little silly. I really liked Everly - although, as in so many romance novels, the situations she found herself in just got sillier and sillier. And I just wanted the main couple to have an actual conversation and hash things out.... So a mixed bag overall.
