Although I did enjoy this, I found it a bit sillier than the other books, a bit like the second book in the series. It was a good story but slightly slapstick and I didn't get into it too much, though I will never forget the name Beau Nash.

3.5/5 rather than 3

I didn't read the description of this book very carefully, so it's my fault that it wasn't what I expected (an 18th-century detective novel). What I got was a pretty standard contemporary detective novel. It was cool that it was set in Bath and so dredged up some of that history. I learned about Beau Nash. But the characters weren't that interesting, and the dialogue pretty meh. I guessed who the real culprit of the crimes was about halfway through.

All that said, I got pretty immersed in the plot and mostly enjoyed myself.

I don't know...a lead detective who's extremely shocked by cocaine use and can't use a smart phone? Seemed too unbelievable to me. I wanted to like it more than I did, though I didn't hate it.

Above average for modern mystery. Not sure if Iā€™lldip back in to this particular series but I would recommend.

I usually love the books in this series but this installment was a slow start for me. Still a fun read, but not as good as the last two.
