Predictable in spots, but also really clever and unexpected in others. Curious where this is going to go in the next volume.

Exciting book. Girls on one side of the river, boys on the other. Girls are just as strong and capable as the boys. Just as smart too. But somehow that is a boring scenario because clearly it is necessary, and more interesting, to have a boy and a girl work together to solve societies mistakes.

I enjoyed this book while I was reading. YA dystopian novels are easy to read and I enjoy the fantastical but simplistic nature. There are 8 other books in the series but I don't think I'll read them. The premise of the book is what interested me but I think that 1 was enough for me to get my fix of separate matriarchal/patriarchal societies.

Oh I like it. A good spin on a society with one city that is matriarchal and one that is patriarchal and what happens to the people who don't fit in either.
