I have no idea what to say about this book. The number of times I yelled at something because it just actually made zero sense was ridiculous 😂
It's an interesting concept and moderately entertaining story, but it's not well written.
Absolutely loved this book.
I have waited over a year to get it and i was not disappointed.
It is similar to the Hunger Games and Divergent, but a bit darker.
At no point but i bored and felt the need to skim read.
The twist was a surprise.
I found myself actively trying to figure out what would happen.

This book was slow and violent. There were a lot of unanswered questions and not a whole lot going on, more relationship building and conversations and secrets. Tons of glorified violence that I wasn't keen on. On the plus side, it read quickly and there were parts that were engaging. I don't think I'll read more books in the series though.
Pretty dang simple. Not much going on. Reads like a dumbed down version of Handmaid's Tale. They had a chance to make something that could really be an interesting take on gender roles and did nothing for it.
This book was action-packed, adventurous, mind boggling! I was gripping the pages so tightly and I love the character of Violet. While I could sense minor plot points that were on the way the twist at the end actually left me speechless. I am at a loss for words at how amazing this book is I love it so much
I did not enjoy this. I didn’t like the writing, the main character was not likeable and it was rather boring. Nothing happens for most of the book and when it does (in the last few pages) everything that occurs just seems too convenient.
I honestly wasn't sure what I was expecting when I read this. I almost put it down after a couple chapters, but I decided to read a little further.
The story definitely picks up after chapter 5, and it tries to keep up the momentum. There were times I had trouble figuring out where Violet's mind led her to do what she does. I had trouble relating to her, although I could see how she kept her mind on seeing her brother again.
I still am having trouble undstanding Lee's motivations, the romance with Viggo (though I did enjoy him as a character) and THAT ENDING! However, I will try to read the sequel, and maybe this series will grow on me. The concept is still interesting, and I would like to find out more about the history between the two nations.

I thought I'd like the premise of this book (or at least find it interesting), turns out it pissed me off.
